Happy Memorial Day!

Remembering my grandfather - a military man. I miss him and it's been since 1991!

Coming from this family, nothing surprises me. Diaper Hats created at nap time: ?!?!

Today was a very emotional day. We learned last night that a woman in our home town was killed in a car accident. That means that 3 little children are going to grow up without a mother (twin boys who are finishing kindergarten and a little girl who is almost 2). It has hit me. I've cried.

Then...The parade today got me thinking about all of the men and women who didn't/aren't coming home. Again, I was sad.

Then, this day also reminds me of the people we've lost including my niece and the daughter who was but never was mine.... Then I think, I should have extended my vacation one more day! Emotions.

Here are some happy pictures from Z's first parade/G's second:
(They had so much fun decorating their flag wand and "bikes"):

A Fun Day - 5.24.10 - Beach & Soccer

Coaches Rykea, Frieda, Jim & ? (front)
Kids: Briana, Gianna, Lea & Zach - all the other kids ran to show their parents their popsicles.
The best part of the night for me was when Frieda said - "There's Gianna - the girl that always had great new hairstyles." And then it was over. I was tickled inside especially coming from an African woman.

Z-man

When someone asks him his name he responds with "Z-man!!". I love it! It's so funny.

The thing that brought tears to my eyes this morning is:
I am working at home on a project. From another room, I could hear the music playing as the kids were working on some kind of project at the island. Z-man starts singing: Kum ba yah. Seriously, I love that he knows this song (and so many others). It's a real benefit to have them at home with my Mom where she can play (and teach) them Christian songs.

And, something I lifted from someone's facebook profile:

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” -- Albert Einstein

People ask me all the time how I do the work that I do (building/creating new things). I get to work in the imagination and make those ideas become reality. This is how God made me. Maintaining the structure in an existing organization seems boring to me.

Fall Fun!

Up early and got the car loaded. Kids up and out the door for 8 am dentist appts. Great to see some old friends there! Nice new office too. G did great - in the chair and did the whole big-girl appt...she's growing up. Z did knee-to-knee, a few tears but no real drama.

G has sl open bite/edge-to-edge and no space on maxilla.
Z has "typical paci" bite and also enamel hypoplasia on his lower 2 2nd primary molars. We'll see how the maxillary ones come in. Also, Dr. M doesn't have any clinical photos of a maxillary geminated tooth so we agreed that when he was a little older that we could snap one for his records! Then...raced to Mem's. Met the kids. Went apple picking out in Hope and then a picnic lunch at a nearby playground. The weather was PERFECT...and I mean really perfect. Slight breeze, clear blue skies and in the 70s. Just wonderful and no bugs!

A great day.
